Free fee comparison

Is the annual launch pass worth it?

Compare the fees for the same facility, vehicle, craft and pass period. Use current operator prices. The initial numbers are a hypothetical example in U.S. dollars; they are not a price quote for any ramp.

Include the launch, parking and entrance charges you would pay.
Include any one-time issuing or processing charge.
Include charges the pass does not cover. Enter 0 only if it covers all the compared fees.
Count only eligible visits before the pass expires, from 0 to 365.

Your cost comparison

Pay per visit
$120.00
Buy the pass
$104.00

The pass costs $16.00 less for 12 visits.

The pass reaches break-even at 10 visits and first costs less at 11 visits. Each visit avoids $8.00 of the compared fees.

Calculated from your entries. A cost comparison does not establish pass eligibility, availability or coverage.

What belongs in each amount?

The daily option includes all the access fees you pay without the pass. The pass option includes its one-time purchase cost and every per-visit fee that remains. If parking still costs $2, include it even when the launch fee is covered. Exclude costs that are identical under both options, such as fuel for the same drive.

How the calculation works

Daily total = visits × daily fee.
Pass total = pass price + visits × remaining fee.

The break-even visit is the first whole visit count at which the pass costs no more. The first cheaper visit is the first count at which it costs less. With an $80 pass, a $10 daily option and $2 still payable each visit, the savings per visit are $8. Ten visits tie at $100; the pass first becomes cheaper at eleven visits. At twelve visits, paying daily costs $120 and the pass option costs $104.

Check coverage before buying

A pass covering entrance may not cover launch or parking charges. For example, Delaware Water Gap’s boating access guidance lists expanded amenity fees that the America the Beautiful Annual Pass does not cover. Ask about excluded sites, resident eligibility, vehicle registration, replacement charges and the actual expiry date. Read the launch-fee guide for a comparison worksheet.
